Yes, it is October already. My birthday came and went while I was still a zombie from giving birth. I became 38 years old in August. I almost did not register my own favorite month before it was finished. The whole summer was completely gone for my part when I sat super pregnant in the apartment with air conditioning until August, and deep inside a breastfeeding haze the rest of the summer.
We, humans, are often too stressed to sit down and think about the things that make us happy. I’m not exactly happy that I’ve already turned 38 years old, but here are 38 things that really make me happy:
1. My Family
What can ever be better than my family? Nothing! My man Marius and my children Frida and Niko, they really mean the world to me. I am worried about them constantly.
2. Listening to Music
Music has been my biggest hobby since I was about 6 years old. I grew up in a home music studio with access to all you need to record music. You are welcome to check out my songs at Soundcloud.
This dish that suddenly arrived in Scandinavia not that long ago, was at first not something I really enjoyed. But then it grew on me, and now it´s my second most favorite dish.
Did you know I used to work part-time as a karaoke host? That was maybe the most awkward job I ever had, but singing has always been very exhilarating for me. I recommend Smule, the #1 singing app if you like singing. I haven’t used it for a while, but I’m eager to start again.
In my tattoos, art, photos, or anything else I create, there have to color. They give sense to the world. They express feelings, meanings, and natural urges. Colors are music to my eyes.
6. Christmas Movies
I am a sucker for Christmas Movies, I need them to get in the Christmas Mood. Starting out with Nightmare before Christmas in Halloween. Then I just need to see my classics: A Christmas Carol, Home Alone, The Grinch, Elf, The Holiday, Family Man, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
7. When my client loves the design/tattoo
One of the very best moments in my job is when the client looks at the design or at the tattoo in the mirror and has a huge smile on their face. It really makes this job so extremely loveable. Besides being able to create permanent art for a living.
8. Newly washed hands
The sensation in the hands and the smell when you just washed your hands. It always makes me feel better. Especially out in public places like shopping malls.
9. Road trips
Those drives, together, long or short trips, day or night… Music, talking, no talking… Nothing matters, we are on our way somewhere…
10. Creating something for the first time, and nailing it!
I bet everyone gets stoked when they try to do something for the first time and nail it completely. I was almost spoiled of this situation when I was younger. I nailed almost every creative project, language, competitions etc. It has made me quite competitive. But I have also learned to be a good loser. Nobody wins every time.
11. Ice Coffee
I don’t like black coffee. I always need lots of milk and sweeteners. My very favorite is my homemade ice coffee. It’s super simple. I make a “shot” of coffee with 4 sweeteners, then add lots of cold milk. Yum!
12. The smell of Lilacs
This reminds me of my childhood when I hid from the other kids inside a circle of Lilac bushes. They smelled heavenly, and I was always safe there, even though it was just a normal Hide and Seek game…
13. That you are reading this right now 🙂
Hey! Someone is actually reading this! Thank you so much! I really enjoy writing, more and more… It´s actually something I would like to do even more in the future. Tattoos first, then writing. Sometimes I don’t want to go to bed, because I’m having way too much fun writing, reading blog tips, or planning posts.
14. The sea
I have been sailing with my parents since I was born. Sadly they sold the boat when we moved to Norway, I was 15. My dream is to have my own boat “when I grow up”. This photo is Frida and me when we had our vacation in Kristiansand many years ago.
15. Funny People
16. Ice Cream
Why is always the things that taste good, bad for you? I could eat Icecream as every single meal of the day. But no, that would be bad for you…
I adore blogging, and all that follows behind the scenes. The photography, the planning, reading tips and tricks, learning SEO, being inspired by other bloggers and more…
18. Netflix with Marius
We have some series we love binge watching. Our latest favorites are “Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt”, “Disenchantment”, “Big Mouth”, “Orange is the New Black” and “Better Call Saul”.
19. Playing Games
Board Games. Do they still exist? Yes, they do. We shouldn’t stop playing board games just because we have smartphones or iPads. Real Boardgames cant be replaced just yet. And Computer Games, so much fun. Cards, Yatzi, you name it! We all need some fun in this serious world.
20. Good Selfies
Yes, I am quite self-absorbed at times, but I am not the kind who love their own reflection in the mirror. I am usually not very happy with the way I look, but when I do get that one selfie I am happy with, I get quite thrilled actually.
21. Palm Trees
There are no Palm Trees in Norway, not in the wild at least. Our environment is too cold. I long for the tropical areas, where the Palm Trees rule.
22. When you comment on my blog
Yes, it’s actually some of my greatest moments, when you comment on my blog. That’s when I feel that you, the readers are actual people, connecting with me in a way. And I can connect back. I love getting feedback, cause I can be a bit unsure. Is it good enough? Do you like what I write? Does it give you anything? Does it lack something?
23. Funny baby/cat/dog-videos
I mean, how can videos like these NOT make you crack up?
24. Pictures from my childhood
I don’t remember much of my childhood. But when I see photos, I get a safe feeling, I feel like I know who I am, and where I come from.
25. Crispy Duck
Yup, Crispy Duck, is THE number One favorite dish. I think it’s the duck meat itself, but without the Asian sauce with it, it’s not quite the same. Have you tried it?
26. Clean Bedsheets
Mmmm. Going to bed newly showered, and into new, clean bedsheets is one of the most amazing sensations in the world. I wish I could have new bed sheets every single day. Its possible, but there would be a lot of laundries to do. And that’s not as sensational…
27. Online Shopping
I actually hate shopping in real shops. There are a lot of people, you have to look at everything to find something you like, it takes time and so much energy. And comparing shops and prices are a bore. But online its all so much more simple. Click – done!
The only flower I really love. I am not a flower kind of girl. I don’t want flowers on Valentines Day. They just die. But walking in the big park with the Magnolia trees is a whole other thing. Wow!
Did I mention I like sweet things? What’s sweeter than candy? Please let me know!
30. Changing my Appearance
I have probably had every color of the circle in my hair. And dreads, curls, rasta braids, you name it. Hm… Rasta braids… Should I have that again?
31. Alone time
Clients at work, boyfriend, and kids at home. I’m not saying I don’t love it, but I also love those small moments that you get all by yourself, when you’re totally alone.
32. Making videos for my Youtube Channel
I have had a long break from Youtube, but now I’m very stoked to start up again. I have some ideas of content to include, but I am open to any suggestions if you have any.
Yes, the autumn is beautiful, the winter is cozy, and the spring is positive. But the summer is the headliner, the time where really I wake up and live.
My newest hobby. It’s quite satisfying. Taking pictures of some things on a table, bed or floor from above, making up a situation, feeling or a topic. Check out my Adorable Flatlays on Pinterest.
35. Homemade Pizza
“sniff” – Yes! Pizza! Mmmm… It’s family dinner time!
36. Getting packages in the mail
I love gadgets and online shopping. But even better than the shopping, is to get the package home. Opening it, like it was Christmas Eve. Like a little child…
Especially the ones with pink, they are so magical. I´ll take a sunset over sunrises any day! I am not a morning person…
38. Writing down things that make me happy
This was quite the long list, but it has been fun to write them all down. Just thinking of the things to put on the list made me even happier. I recommend writing your own list like this, and if you do, comment with a link, it would b great fun to read your list.
Hope this was somewhat enjoyable, and now you know me even better 🙂
